My name is Laumee and I live in Germany. I am a painter and illustrator and also a history student.

Like most other people I loved to paint and draw when I was little. My favourite subjects were horses and rabbits . My topics varied quite a bit since then and I experimented around with many ways of expressing myself.

For me art is also a way to communicate and most of my messages to my audience are abstract. Abstract painting is a great way to learn about colours, shapes, composition and most important of all it teaches how to communicate on a very subtle level.

During the last few years I grew more and more interested in telling stories and illustrating them. My illustrations do not replace my abstract paintings, for the two are far too different. But illustration surely is another, fascinating way of expressing myself. While my canvas paintings look quite good, when put on a wall, my illustrations are more meant to be looked at in a book.

I don't aim for very realistic art, but my wish to illustrate stories and tell about people and their sometimes fantastical and magical world, demands me to take a very close look at all that surrounds me.

I spend a lot of time making studies and sketches from life and I enjoy the research that's necessary for certain topics. I make countless studies of various aspects of life and nature and it's amazing how much there is still to discover and to learn.

I love music and it's the most important inspiration for me. Every story has a song.
A certain song for a certain painting helps me to focus on the atmosphere, makes the people and their world I want to portray appear much clearer and alive before my inner eye.

During the last few years I mainly focused on selling original artwork, both abstract paintings and realistic drawings, at art shows in Germany and several other European countries.

ABOUT ME

“There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening
that is translated through you into action. And because there is only one of you in all of time this expression is unique.

And if you block it,
it will never exist through any other medium, and be lost.
The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is,
nor how valuable,or how it compares with other expressions.

It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly,
to stay open and aware to the urges that motivate you.“
